Closed by iron doors, they were fitted with strong forged hooks on their inner walls to hold the meat of shot animals. Several ice cellars are known across Slovakia, preserved in various manorial parks. One such example is found in the village of Vlachovo.

The longest and one of the wildest gorges in the Slovak Paradise is the Veľký Sokol gorge. According to legend, its name is derived from a huge predator who allegedly kidnapped a young woman once. The cubes of this baby are allegedly still scattered on high cliffs above the gorge.

At the foot of the forest in Spišský Hrhov, in an old orchard with a view of Spiš Castle, there is a sauna original in its architecture and concept. Spišské divadlo je divadlom s vyše 40-ročnou históriou, ktoré pod týmto názvom pôsobí od roku 1992 v budove Reduty, ktorú v roku 1902 pre spoločnosť Imre Halmaiho Straussa postavil staviteľ Kálman Gezster. Jediné na Slovensku pôsobí ako zájazdové divadlo s prioritnou orientáciou na deti a mládež.

Azda najkrajšia gotická stavba na Slovensku – Kaplnka Zápoľských sa nachádza v Spišskom Štvrtku, ležiacom na juhozápadnom okraji Levočských vrchov. Zanechal ju po sebe rod Zápoľských, jeden z významných šľachtických rodov Spiša.

Stone bridge in Spišský Hrhov, in eastern Slovakia, is one of interesting historical and technical monuments, which still serve their purposes. It is one of few conserved historic bridges in region of Spiš.

North-west of Rožňava in the east of Slovakia, in the valley of the Slaná river is the fairy tale-like two-storied manor house Betliar with four corner towers. It is a stately hunting manor surrounded by a wonderful English park with romantic structures including an artificial cave and waterfall. Its interior is equally interesting, as it contains a picture gallery, music and hunting halls, a library, antique furniture and exotic collections. Its reconstruction won a EUROPA NOSTRA award.

The exhibition is located at the square in the burgess house no. 20 whose facade catches one’s eye with the motive of a seashell. Life and work of Master Pavol of Levoča, one of the greatest late-Gothic masters, is presented.

The Roman-Catholic St Jacob church is one of the most important sacral buildings in Slovakia. Its wooden main altar of St James is the tallest of its kind in the world.

The most important building of Spišská Kapitula, which was along with other monuments in environs of the Spiš Castle inscribed in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage, is the Late-Romanesque St Martins Cathedral.
