The longest and one of the wildest gorges in the Slovak Paradise is the Veľký Sokol gorge. According to legend, its name is derived from a huge predator who allegedly kidnapped a young woman once. The cubes of this baby are allegedly still scattered on high cliffs above the gorge.

Closed by iron doors, they were fitted with strong forged hooks on their inner walls to hold the meat of shot animals. Several ice cellars are known across Slovakia, preserved in various manorial parks. One such example is found in the village of Vlachovo.

It is a stately hunting manor surrounded by a wonderful English park with romantic structures including an artificial cave and waterfall. Its interior is equally interesting, as it contains a picture gallery, music and hunting halls, a library, antique furniture and exotic collections. Its reconstruction won a EUROPA NOSTRA award.

The exhibition is located at the square in the burgess house no. 20 whose facade catches one’s eye with the motive of a seashell. Life and work of Master Pavol of Levoča, one of the greatest late-Gothic masters, is presented.

The Roman-Catholic St Jacob church is one of the most important sacral buildings in Slovakia. Its wooden main altar of St James is the tallest of its kind in the world.

Stone bridge in Spišský Hrhov, in eastern Slovakia, is one of interesting historical and technical monuments, which still serve their purposes. It is one of few conserved historic bridges in region of Spiš.
