The house, which was originally built as a sign of frustration with bureaucracy, soon turned into a popular tourist attraction. The building that houses the museum is one of the most distinctive buildings of the square in the town of Liptovský Mikuláš. It has several names - the County House (Stoličný House), the Illešházy Manor House and the Seliga's House. It features a triple arch that is unusual for the town and stands out from the rest of the buildings on the square's western side.

In 1830, the history of Slovak amateur theater began to be written here, later several associations were housed in its building, including the cultural and reading association "Větín". During the May Day demonstration in 1918, the first public document by which the Slovak nation openly subscribed to the right to self-determination and to the idea of ​​Czech-Slovak reciprocity was heard in front of its participants gathered in the courtyard of the Black Eagle. At present, the building houses a unique exhibition from the history of hunting, hunting and fishing in Liptov, and numerous cultural and educational events take place here.
