In the northern part of the lowland Východoslovenská nížina, the water reservoir attracts in summer season. Due to its very favourable local climate, it is widely used for recreation.

The most attractive cultural monument of the town Michalovce in the east of Slovakia is its manor house. It stands in the middle of the town on the bank of the Laborec river, on the site of the old water castle, which protected the territory against the enemy assaults.

South of Humenné in wonderful woods of the Humenské vrchy Mts. are the ruins of the castle called Jasenov from the 13th century.

The Greek Catholic wooden church of St Basil the Great from 1750. This three-space log building is covered by shingle roof with two little towers. Interior is mostly in the Baroque style from the 18th century. Iconostas is somewhat younger and it dates to the end of the 18th century. Interior also contains an interesting cupboard made in the Gothic style.

The Greek Catholic wooden church of Lords Ascension from 1755. The interior walls of this log building are plastered with clay. Iconostas in this church is in the east Carpathian style, there is also a hand painted altar cross and several crosses carried in processions.

The town Humenné is situated on the middle reach of the Laborec river in the east of Slovakia and it has an originally Renaissance manor house. In the 19th century the manor was reconstructed in the Baroque style, which imitates the French architecture.
