The house, which was originally built as a sign of frustration with bureaucracy, soon turned into a popular tourist attraction. In addition to the primary function of a hotel and restaurant facility, which was partially preserved until the 1970s (the name of the company originated after 1850), the Black Eagle also served as a center of cultural life, whose significance exceeded the borders of Liptovský Mikuláš. In 1830, the history of Slovak amateur theater began to be written here, later several associations were housed in its building, including the cultural and reading association "Větín". During the May Day demonstration in 1918, the first public document by which the Slovak nation openly subscribed to the right to self-determination and to the idea of ​​Czech-Slovak reciprocity was heard in front of its participants gathered in the courtyard of the Black Eagle. At present, the building houses a unique exhibition from the history of hunting, hunting and fishing in Liptov, and numerous cultural and educational events take place here.
