A MYSTIC CHURCH
In Bošácka valley on the outskirts of Haluzice stands a torso of the late Romanesque church that met its fate in 1800. The church was built in 1240 together with an enclosed defensive wall, tower and loopholes. Believe it or not even Matúš Čák of Trenčín wanted to own it. However, according to a tale the royal army took the "Haluzický Castle" from Matúč Čák back by force. The church was not only a worshipping place but also a hideout in times an enemy army, floods or violent storms would come. It occasionally served as a market hall or a place for public gatherings. Perhaps thanks to a force majeure the only remaining artifact of the church is a statue of the Madonna, now stored in the parish church in Beckov.
From time to time the chapel organizes worships and concerts of medieval music. These sacred chants are carried up to Beckov where they are heard by Madonna. Hopefully she would remember times when people of Haluzice prayed to her every day. It is therefore not surprising that even Alois Jirásek fell for church’s mystical atmosphere and mentioned it in his trilogy “Bratstvo (Brotherhood)”.

ZEMIANSKE PODHRADIE
Among the most valuable monuments in Slovakia is an oval evangelical church built in the early Empire style in the 19th century. Its neighbor is a mansion that belonged to Ostrolúcky family. The park next to the mansion features several rare and old trees, like 500 years old linden under which thick branches once sat Štúr and Adela Ostrolúcka.
