The Castle Hrádok built on a small hill near the river Belá is situated in the town Liptovský Hrádok in the north of Slovakia. Though several versions of a story narrating the origin of the castle exist, one thing is certain: the first reference to the castle is from 1341.

In Vážnice there is an exposition of the history of mining and metallurgy in Liptov, complemented by the clothes of a miner, a collection of mining lamps and working tools. The Maša Liptovský Hrádok Museum of Mining and Metallurgy presents the history of metal mining and processing in the form of two-dimensional panels with a text part and rich illustrative material. It was mined in the Bocianská and Ľupčianská valleys and in Magurka. Also in the area of ​​Liptovský Hrádok, Kriváň, Western Tatras and Čierny Váh. And also in the central part of the Low Tatras and the area of ​​Dúbrava and Liptovský Kľačany. The outskirts of the town of Liptovský Mikuláš are quietly guarded from the north-eastward by the hill Háj. During the May Day demonstration in 1918, the first public document by which the Slovak nation openly subscribed to the right to self-determination and to the idea of ​​Czech-Slovak reciprocity was heard in front of its participants gathered in the courtyard of the Black Eagle. At present, the building houses a unique exhibition from the history of hunting, hunting and fishing in Liptov, and numerous cultural and educational events take place here.

Museum of Liptov Village is the most attractive landmark of the Liptov region. It displays the typical folk architecture. The impetus behind the establishing of the museum was the extensive flooding caused by the construction of the Liptovská Mara dam.
