Kapušiansky hrad sa vypína vysoko na kopci, takže jeho dominantu je jasne vidno už pri výjazde z Prešova smerom na Vranov nad Topľou. Aj dnes je to ešte krásna, pomerne zachovalá zrúcanina.
Kapušiansky hrad postavili v rokoch 1410-1420 na mieste zničeného kráľovského hradu z 13. storočia. Hrad počas celej svojej existencie patril rodu Kápyovcom. Je veľmi dobre strategicky riešený. V druhej polovici 16. storočia hrad v rámci budovania protitureckej obrany prispôsobili novej vojenskej technike. V roku 1709 však hrad dobylo vojsko Františka II. Rákociho a nechalo ho podpáliť. O tri roky neskôr dala majiteľka hradu Eva Gergelakyová, vdova po Gabrielovi Kapym, hrad opraviť. O ďalšie tri roky ho však musela definitívne zničiť.
